Vision Board sponsors National Cycle Event

Pendle Vision Board is sponsoring the National Road Race Championships which will be held in Pendle on 27 June.

Olympic medallists Bradley Wiggins and Pendle's own Steven Burke will be battling it out with up to 200 riders including Tour de France multiple stage winner Mark Cavendish.

New High Sheriff for Lancashire

 

Dennis G Mendoros OBE, DL, FRAeS, the Managing Director of Euravia Engineering & Supply Co Ltd, and Chairman of Pendle Vision Board, is nominated the new High Sheriff for Lancashire, and will continue an office stretching back over one thousand years.

Quarterly Northwest manufacturing survey signals cautious optimism

 

The latest quarterly Manufacturing Institute survey of business challenges among manufacturers in Northwest England signals improved confidence, with 48% of respondents stating that they expected their business to grow over the next 12 months, which was more than double the percentage for the previous quarter.

ACE Centre opens with week of events

So instead the ACE opened with a week long programme of fantastic, fun and mostly FREE activities, from live music, to after work barbeques, free films and a family open day on Saturday 13th June. Community Foundation for Lancashire visits Vision Board

 

Community Foundation for Lancashire is a charitable organisation which offers a service to individuals and organisations who want to give to local causes in Lancashire. Glen Lockett, Director, explained:


”We connect donors to the community, and provide grants and support to local groups and individuals to help them build a stronger Lancashire and tackle modern social issues.

Work starts on Barrowford’s New Business Park

 

 

Vision Board members congratulate Tim Webber, Chairman and Managing Director, Barnfield Construction, as the Mayor of Pendle, Cllr Shelagh Derwent, cuts the first sod at Vantage Court, Riverside Business Park, Barrowford.

 

Dennis Mendoros, Chairman of Pendle Vision, commented:

 

“We are thrilled about the investment opportunities and jobs the park will bring to the local economy. Barrowford is an affluent place to live and we feel the development will further complement this perception, encouraging more people into the Borough”

 

Charlotte Rice, Marketing Manager at Barnfield said:

Vision Board launches new website

 

 

Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive of the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), joined Vision Board members at Boundary Mill, Colne, to launch their new website. Mr Broomhead said:

 

“The NWDA recognises the need for a strong online presence in today’s increasingly digitally-driven society. The new Pendle Vision website rightly captures the borough’s spirit and will enable its user to navigate its content with ease.

 

By improving the virtual image of Pendle we are stepping closer towards a stronger economy, creating opportunities for growth and making a real difference to local people.”

 

Speaking on behalf of the board, Dennis Mendoros, Chairman, said:

 

“We’re thrilled with the website – it really shows Pendle at its best! Having an online presence means that people from all over the world can see what the borough has to offer.

Vision Board hails opening of Nelson bus/rail interchange

 

Dennis Mendoros, Pendle Vision Board Chairman, welcomed the opening of Nelson’s transport interchange. He said: “This is an important step forward in providing integrated transport in Pennine Lancashire. Businesses need good transport links to distribute their products and get employees to their place of work. We look forward with great anticipation to the next three pieces in the jigsaw – a faster rail service to Manchester, an extra lane for the M65 and easier access to the M1 via the A56 village bypass.”

Transport Group considers options

 

The Transport Group, set up by the Vision Board to crystallise the Board’s thoughts on East/West transport links, met to discuss

• the costs and benefits of rail and road links between Pendle and Yorkshire

• Lancashire County Council’s forthcoming review of the local transport plan

• options for the Vision Board to influence decisions.

Employment Sites Working Group nominates three sites for employment use

 

The Employment Sites Working Group, set up by the Vision Board to review employment sites, has nominated three sites to Pendle Council’s Local Development Framework Consultation. During the six-week consultation period the Council received approximately 200 representations. These will be publicised in due course, along with the Council's response following the consideration of comments and sites put forward. The Council’s final decision is expected in 2010.
